Listening to Advice

Last week my article was about not deleting imperfect images because the advancement of technology for art and photography might make some of those images useful in the future.

Well, I decided to take my own advice and had a look through some of my old files in storage. The result was a 5-part black and and white series of winter images, all in portrait format. Landscapes aren’t something I generally do in portrait format, but I found this series to be just what I was looking for.

I have a 3-part cast aluminum screen with arched tops and places for nine 8X10 images. I bought it as a way to display my work and for the past couple of years, it’s only had 3 images in it. I specifically wanted black and white images; in particular landscapes. Because the image space has a portrait orientation I’ve had a difficult time choosing images to place in it.

I was thoroughly delighted to come across these old shots - especially since I realized that technology had indeed advanced over the last 4 years to a point where I could make something good from these originals.

Sometimes it pays to listen to advice…even your own.
