Create Your Own Art Show

Instead of waiting for galleries to accept your work, why not take a more do-it-yourself approach?  Abstract Artist Ruth Palmer explains how she did it in a very informative Squiddo Lens.

First of all, don’t give up!  Rejection letters should just fuel your fire to try harder!  Palmer mentions that she finally decided to take matters into her own hands and create a show for herself!  Here are some of her tips:  Try to have a private show once a year.  They are fun and inexpensive.  Exposure for your work is never a bad thing.  Once you decide to have it you must decide on a venue, what you need to do to prepare for it, how you will handle orders, and if you will offer any art deals or refreshments at your show.  Then, you will need to decide how you will advertise your show to get the art lovers in the door.  It helps to start by making a list of who to invite and go from there!

All in all, an art show can be a fun, relaxing, way to get your foot into the world of art.  Even if it’s just a gathering of friends and family, word of mouth is a very powerful thing!  So forget about all those gallery rejection letters and start thinking positively and do something for yourself!  You may be surprised by the outcome!
