October is one of my favorite months in my favorite season –Autumn. Colors blaze. The air is crisp, the temperatures moderating from summer heat waves. Far away from civilization, high up in the mountains, I hike, immersed in the smells of clean earth, in the empty fullness of silence, in the glory of a wilderness devoid of mankind’s intrusion. I’m at peace. I’m utterly happy. In bliss, I behold nature as it should be everywhere, but isn’t wherever man encroaches with his needy, greedy, breedy incursions…and NOISE.
There should be a moratorium on hurly-burly and its byproducts, destruction of beauty and increased ugly noise. Give me silence, utter and complete any day rather than the sounds of human mouths moving or the thunder of machinery savaging spoiled earth. Give me wild, raw nature rather than the sin of rape, pillaging, and plunder of our fair Gaia. D. L. Keur Fall Leaves On Windy Day by D. L. Keur |
