Busman’s Holiday

The blessing and curse of being a photographer is when on vacation. Of course I bring my camera, of course I take lot of shots, after all I love to. But every vacation I take seems to turn into a project. Either before I leave or while away an idea for a book, calendar, or whatever inevitably comes along. Don’t misunderstand, I actually don’t really mind, I love photography, but where is the line drawn?

Fraser Lake , Northern British Columbia

Take my last vacation, I traveled Northern British Columbia with my wife and her parents. A great opportunity for some wonderful shots. There I was though every night editing photos on my laptop. As I traveled my mind was on potential ways to use the shots in a project. Of course I didn’t have to do this but I did, I enjoyed every minute.

I guess it really is a blessing and not a curse. Doing something you love is never really work. Now I just have to do something with all these new photos.
