Can You See My Hands Waving?

an editorial by D. L. Keur

One of my joys as an artist is working with a group of fine art photographers and artists with whom I can relate, whom I can trust, and with whom I am completely at ease being honest and vulnerable. The artists of Naked Genius provide for me a cozy, safe, undemanding, yet stimulating group of peers with whom to associate. I can share, and they care. I can become overwhelmned, and they never condemn, only commisserate. I can unburden my soul, and they brew me a cup of friendship tea. …And I them. Now to try to get sales and opportunity jumping, a tough go right now with the world economy and socio-political turmoil so saturating the attentions of the global citizenry. I keep waving my hands, but everyone’s eyes seem to be looking the other direction.

Opportunities in a World of Darkness and Light

by Nick Fuller, fine art photographer

Lonesome Pine by Nick Fuller

The Emptying of the Spirit

by Artist Stacy Lee

Sometimes we can’t move in art or in life until we have surrendered everything in ourselves. We can’t take the next step until everything that has been built up inside of us is laid down and the good is restored and the bad is taken out and thrown away. READ MORE

Flowers to Brighten a Rainy Day

by Daniel Kazor, fine art photographer

flowers to brighten a rainy day by Daniel Kazor

After a glorious September here in souther B.C., it would seem fall has fallen and the rains have come. Sitting looking at the gray weather I felt the need to dwell on something bright, and turned to a collection of flower shots I took very recently on a trip to Butchart Gardens an Vancouver Island. Art Amid Commercialism

by artist and photographer J. Gracey Stinson

Oops

In the last few weeks I’ve been stuck in the land of commercial work. I still enjoy a little commercial work now and then, but when it takes me away from producing images simply for the love of creating for such a long period of time, it can become something you resent doing. The upside of commercial work is the fact that you are usually assured of earnings at the end of it all. READ MORE

Hazy Organization

by D. L. Keur, artist

Art — and anything, really — requires order and “hazy organization” (habit) on one hand, and broad, leniency that permits the luxury of shattering one’s schedule utterly and completely on the other when creativity projects demand. READ MORE
