| When does an artist succeed? Is it after the vision is completed and put down on the blank canvas? Or does it end there? Maybe it’s after the viewer takes the vision and makes it his or her own. Perhaps it’s when the viewer connects with the vision so much that she or he has to purchase the art. Or maybe it’s just when someone gets lost in the art and finds him or herself in a new world: a place unseen before or unrehearsed.
Some say that artists like Van Gogh are successful. But made him successful? The fact that many buy and admire his work today even though he did not see that kind of joy in his own lifetime? Maybe he was just successful in doing what he loved to do. Or maybe he was just successful by having others view his work. Perhaps he was not successful at all considering he did not have the pleasure of knowing how many people adore and love his work after his death…
