Experimentation isn’t Always Scientific

Taking a little hiatus from photography I’ve been delving into other artistic forms these past few weeks, experimenting with a couple of fractal programs I haven’t used before, and trying to combine the results of those mathematical based images with abstract and texture photographic images.

The results are mixed, and I’m still experimenting, but the conclusion for me seems to be that this is a medium that will have merit in the artistic environment once I’m comfortable with the mathematics of it.

Experimenting in this way is more artistic than scientific, though part of the method involves the science of maths (which I’m rather bad at) - I need to brush up a little.

Sometimes it’s worthwhile for the artist to step back from their usual medium and experiment a little with something new.

Two of the tentative images, as yet unreleased:

The Visit - though difficult to see in this small version there is a sailboat here - a ghostly visitor perhaps.

The Fissures of Life - a rather mixed metallic finish.
